Fargo Moorhead Camera Club was organized in October of 1938 and has been in continuous operation since that date. It is affiliated with the North Central Council of Camera Clubs (N4C). The club is a Nonprofit Corporation and is in Good Standing with the State of North Dakota.
Meetings are held twice monthly beginning in September and continuing through May. The first meeting of each month consists of a contest or salon held on the first Thursday. Members submit entries according to the club rules. The entries are judged prior to the meeting and the judge critiques the photographs and gives educational comments as the entries are shown at the meeting. The second meeting of each month is held on the third Thursday and consists of an instructional program, hands-oh shooting session, or a presentation.
An annual meeting is held in April. This includes Election Of Officers and selection of the assigned salon subjects for one year in advance. A Christmas party is held in place of the December instructional meeting. An annual awards banquet is held the last Thursday in January to celebrate the winners of special trophies and awards.
The principal goal of the club is to help its members to improve their photographic skills through educational activities and by means of competition. The competition serves to challenge us to try various subjects and techniques. New members are helped and encouraged by others and there is an atmosphere of fun and fellowship. Visitors and guests are always welcome at all meetings and activities.
